Christmas Light Installation in St. Louis Hills
Wide streets, deep lawns and some of the best-built brick in the city. St. Louis Hills is a neighborhood that takes lighting seriously in December.
Built to last, and it shows
St. Louis Hills went up mostly in the 1930s and 1940s and it was built properly: solid brick, arched entries, rounded doorways, slate or clay tile on a good many roofs, and lots wide enough to give each house room to breathe. Streets radiate off Francis Park and Hampton, and the front lawns are deep enough that a display has to work at a distance rather than up close.
Brick and tile change how we attach things. Tile in particular does not forgive clips designed for asphalt shingle, and a roof edge that looks like a normal gutter line from the ground sometimes is not. We look at what is actually on the edge before quoting rather than assuming, because a cracked tile in December is an expensive way to save ten minutes.
A neighborhood that competes, quietly
People drive these streets in December on purpose, which is a fair reason to want the roofline straight and the entry properly done. The best results here are not the loudest ones — a cleanly traced roof, a lit arched entry, wrapped urns at the step and one good tree will beat a lawn full of inflatables on any block in the Hills.
Install runs October into November, the display is maintained all season, and takedown and off-site storage happen in January. Serving St. Louis Hills, the Tower Grove blocks and the whole south side.
