Set back, up a hill

Eureka sprawls into the hills, and a lot of the newer building has gone up on wooded slopes with houses set well back. That changes the job. A roofline that would dominate a subdivision street is a small bright shape at the top of a dark drive out here, and the approach — the drive, the trees along it, the entry — does more than the eave does.

It also means real distance. We plan power runs and timers rather than assuming an outlet is close by, because on these lots it usually is not.
