Christmas Light Installation in Alton, Illinois
A river city built into the bluffs, with Victorian housing standing high enough to be seen for miles.
Height, and houses worth the climb
Alton is built into the bluffs above the Mississippi, and the streets climb hard enough that houses stand at genuinely different elevations within a single block. The historic districts hold some of the best Victorian housing anywhere in the region — towers, wraparound porches, brackets, slate — and the downtown below them has kept its nineteenth-century brick.
Height does half the work if the install respects the house. Steep pitches and turrets get measured and cut on site rather than stretched. Original trim gets clips and nothing else. One warm colour temperature, because these houses were built long before anyone thought of lighting them blue.
What works here
- Clips only, never a fastener — original fascia, trim and slate stay untouched
- A single warm colour temperature — cool white turns old brick grey
- Porches, columns and bay windows outlined — trace what the builder drew
- Dormers and steep peaks cut on site — no stock length stretched across a gable
- Careful January takedown — removed the same way it went up
Alton, Godfrey and the Riverbend towns are one run for us all season, so install weeks are grouped and repairs are included at the standard price.
