Christmas Light Installation in Festus, Missouri

A real town, not a subdivision

Festus and its twin Crystal City sit down Highway 55 at the far end of Jefferson County, and they have the shape of towns that existed for their own reasons rather than as commuter overflow. The older streets near downtown carry frame and brick houses with porches, steep simple gables and small front yards. Newer development climbs the ridges and the highway corridor, with the larger two-story fronts you would expect from the last twenty-five years of building.

The terrain is the local complication. Jefferson County streets roll, and a house that sits above or below its driveway needs its display weighted differently than one on flat ground. We look at the approach as well as the front, because a display that only works from directly in front of the house is a display most people will never see properly.

Older Festus houses also tend to have real porches, and a porch is the best place to put light on a house that sits close to the sidewalk. Rail garland, wrapped columns and a framed entry will beat another run of roofline every time on those streets.

What a Festus job includes

• A measured quote from the actual roofline, not an estimate off a photo
• Custom-cut runs in one warm color temperature across the whole front
• Porch and entry work on the older downtown houses, where it does the most good
• Trees and front beds on the newer lots, which otherwise read empty below the roof
• Season-long repairs, January takedown and labeled storage in the price
